The Public Technology/Digital Strategy Division of the New York City Council is seeking a Website Developer/Designer who is passionate about civic technology, works extremely well with others and is constantly looking at ways to use emerging tools to advance the work of the Council. Responsibilities include:
Building and managing Council websites that deliver optimum user experience and enforcing quality control. Providing technical and structural guidance towards sites that are flexible, responsive and interactive. Maintaining, troubleshooting and continuing to improve digital properties. Training Council staff on Content Management System use and guidelines. Implementing online initiatives by employing all phases of development lifecycle (design, build, test, maintain and iterate) Communicating with relevant third party application providers. Staying abreast with emerging technologies, relevant APIs, industry best practices and Web usability standards. Ensuring that site development reflects principles and objectives of Council 2.0 roadmap and any updates in direction and approach. Reviewing and reporting on website usage statistics, monitoring analytics and user feedback. Working with Information Technology and across divisions to define technical requirements and capabilities, produce technical requirement documents, establish user-workflows and provide project schedules to ensure delivery of new online products, when needed. Outlining policies and procedures for publishing Web pages and applications in conjunction with team and in accordance with City Council policies. REQUIREMENTS
