Position Summary

Florida Rising is an independent political organization bringing together Black and Brown communities to seize power and govern to advance social, economic, and racial justice across Florida.

Job Description:

The Data Director will be responsible for the day-to-day use and maintenance of information in FL Rising’s data systems (Voter Activation Network (VAN), EveryAction, NationBuilder, Tableau) and field programs. The Data Director will provide technical support & training for fellow team members to support FL Rising programs and membership development, as well as, prepare documents and reports. This position will serve as a direct thought partner and strategist to the Organizing, Membership, Political and Development departments. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with the communications team to implement digital and text programs through our various platforms. (i.e. Revolution Messaging, Facebook, Twitter) 
• Proactively maintain data hygiene of tags, filters, and engagement levels. 
• Ensure timely and accurate synchronization of records between FL Rising databases.
• Monitor analysis new supporter list to identify individuals that are engaged supporters to be imported into NationBuilder and/or EveryAction. 
• Provide regular training to staff on best practices in VAN, EveryAction, NationBuilder, Tableau and other FL Rising platforms. 
• Prepare weekly data and communications reports
• Clean, standardize and import records of new supporters, engaged supporters, members, activists and leaders.  
• Develop and implement digital security plan.  
• Perform other duties as requested 
• Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team on effective data strategies and analysis that propels the mission of the organization.
• Work with statewide and national partners to ensure Florida Rising’s data platforms are in synch with multiple platforms
• Manage the Data Department and provide specific leadership development and training opportunities for direct team

Qualifications and Experience: 

• Minimum 5 years experience in electoral work, organizing or advocacy work
• Strong understanding of social justice framework and electoral organizing
• Expert knowledge of Voter Activation Network (VAN) and Tableau
• High-levelProficiency in Microsoft and GSuite applications, such as Excel and GoogleSheets
• Effective communication and analytical skills with fluency in at least one common programming language
• Demonstrates leadership and team coordination skills

• Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team to advance the mission/goals of the organization.
• Ability to interact with and understand people of various social, cultural, economic, and education backgrounds.
• Fluency in English is required; Spanish and/or Haitian Creole is a plus.
