Position Summary

Priorities USA is a progressive advocacy organization focused on promoting the Biden-Harris agenda, ensuring Democratic victories in 2022, and supporting and improving the progressive movements’ use of digital advertising. We believe in an economy that provides real opportunity for all families to get ahead, and to protect the fundamental, democratic ideal of equality for all Americans – regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. With Donald Trump defeated, we’re looking for a team who wants to answer “what’s next?” and to help shape the next chapter of progressive campaigning.
As an Analytics Associate at Priorities, your primary responsibility will be to support the Competitive Media Tracking team in developing a data infrastructure, analyzing large datasets, and producing regular reports that inform the broader media program at Priorities. You will be part of a small team that thinks about the big picture, is constantly looking for ways to improve our work, and helps tell a story about what is going on in the 2022 election. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and excited about solving a unique problem.

Responsibilities

    • Hand coding and categorizing data so that it is standardized and usable in a large dataset.
    • Conducting quality control checks to ensure modeled data is categorized correctly.
    • Supporting the Competitive Media Analytics Manager in developing pipelines, models, and dashboards used to analyze the broader media landscape.
    • Participating in the development of a weekly media landscape report.
    • Providing support for ad hoc reporting requests by pulling data from our database, building presentations, and writing memos.
    • Maintaining the scripts necessary to produce reports quickly and efficiently.
    • Reporting to the Director of Analytics and providing additional support to the analytics team as required.

Qualifications

    • Creative thinker and problem solver with a passion for Democratic causes and candidates.
    • Experience using data to formulate insights.
    • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and less-technical audiences.
    • Keen attention to detail with an understanding of how to find and fix errors.
    • Exposure to R, Python, or another statistical programming language.
    • Self-starter who is curious enough to ask big questions and realistic enough to deliver answers that are applicable and actionable.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Past experience with SQL and fluency in R or Python.
    • Curiosity and passion for digital strategy, or past experience in digital advertising.
    • Understands campaigns or has some political background (volunteering, for example).
    • Experience communicating with diverse groups, working with a multicultural workforce, and bringing a sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences.
This position will have the option of being remote or working out of Washington, DC where we will eventually have an office once it’s safe, with occasional travel as needed. We project the salary range to be $55,000-$65,000, but will be tailored to experience. Priorities USA’s competitive benefits package includes 100% of health care premium covered for the employee and 50% for dependents, a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer contributions, paid holidays, and unlimited PTO. People of color, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. If you need an accommodation for a disability to apply to this position, please let us know by emailing.
