This job reports to the National Director, Data Strategy, Analytics, and Governance in the Data Strategy, Analytics, and Governance (DSAG) department at PPFA. The DSAG team enables data-driven decision making through high quality data, analysis, and tools.
 
Purpose: 
The Associate Director, Technical PM will be responsible for leading the project management function with the DSAG department. They will establish project management practices to enable the DSAG team to operate effectively and efficiently. They will also be responsible for leading large-scale projects, including the implementation of new tools/platforms such as Jira and Confluence, in coordination with DSAG’s directors.
 
Delivery:
The Associate Director, Technical PM will be responsible for the following:
● Develop and execute complex, data-related project plans and roadmaps, including project and task management in Jira, Asana, and other applications/tools
● Project manage the implementation of large-scale projects, including implementation of new tools/platforms such as Jira and Confluence, in coordination with DSAG’s directors
● Collaborate with team leaders to set clear expectations for tasks and deliverables
● Track progress through backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, etc.
● Identify risks and mitigation strategies and manage day-to-day operational and tactical aspects across multiple projects
● Lead and facilitate meetings, including note-taking, follow-up tracking, and scheduling
●Develop and lead Agile processes by fostering empowerment, excellence, and accountability across teams; build familiarity and skill of an Agile mindset across DSAG through peer-coaching
● Lead scrum ceremonies (daily standup, planning, elaboration and retrospective meetings) as needed
● Collaborate with DSAG’s directors to manage resource allocations across teams with a goal of creating inclusive and transparent processes that support the needs and concerns of the teams
● Collaborate with teams adjacent to DSAG to facilitate alignment on cross-divisional strategic initiatives
● Develop and recommend best practices for project management and execution across DSAG; encourage continual improvements
● Ensure timely responses and delivery of ad-hoc requests and needs; at times, this role will require prompt attention and frequent pivoting to meet fast-paced deadlines
● Document technical processes in accordance with DSAG’s documentation standards and processes
● Manage, coach, and professionally develop project and administrative staff within the DSAG department
 
Engagement: The Associate Director, Technical PM supports a broad portfolio of programs/projects, and the role requires strong interpersonal skills and analytical skills to build strong, effective relationships both within the DSAG team and with stakeholders in other departments. This role requires a keen ability and desire to communicate and work productively within a team. Due to the consultative nature of the role, the Associate Director, Technical PM must have exemplary customer service skills, a positive “can do” attitude, and a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization to project manage large technical projects. ● 4+ years of professional work experience as a project manager for data or technical products/platforms
