Position Summary

Mission Control Inc. is looking to hire a Data and Targeting Director. This individual will drive the targeting of our mail, and be a full strategic partner in helping state, federal and local races map a path to victory.

 

Mission Control is one of the premier direct mail firms serving Democratic and progressive candidates. This position is temporarily remote but may be based out of the DC office in the future. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to coordinate multiple projects at once, extremely detail-oriented, and committed to helping Democrats and progressives win up and down the ballot.

 

The DT Director will be responsible for developing voter contact universes, creating reports to provide strategic guidance to internal stakeholders and clients, managing MC’s internal data infrastructure and processes, hiring and managing data department staff, helping prepare proposals and pitches for prospective clients, and direct overall targeting for the firm.

 

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Comfort manipulating voter files (including DNC Votebuilder, TargetSmart, Catalist, L2, and/or PDI), election results, statistical models, and polling data
  • Previous experience with targeting for electoral, political, or advocacy campaigns, particularly for direct mail, field, or digital programs
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong communications skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience hiring and managing small teams
  • Strong Excel and/or G-Suite skills

 

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • 2 cycles of political data experience
  • Experience with data visualization and/or mapping platforms (e.g. Google Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI, QGIS)
  • Experience with SQL and working knowledge of Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, or similar relational databases
  • Familiarity with scripting and statistical languages like Python or R
  • Experience with Civis Platform and/or DNC Tools like Portal or Phoenix
  • Previous experience with A/B testing and randomized controlled trials for message testing and/or turnout experiments

Salary $80,000 – $110,000 depending on experience. Full benefits including health, dental, life & disability insurance, and 401k.
