Position Summary

- Ongoing year-round civic engagement

- Long-term strategic planning for collective impact
The Data & Reporting Director ensures that Wisconsin Voices partner work is tracked and reported by leveraging tools and data. This role trains and supports data staff & partner organizations to use a data-driven approach that integrates voter contact tools into organizing and outreach activities. The manager uses data to inform the collective strategic planning process, in collaboration with other WV leaders.
Strategy & Vision
- Seek new tools and applications to enhance the work of partner organizations
- Ensure Data Department provides primary reporting, to gauge/direct partner progress
- Assist partners in using a data-driven approach in their issue and advocacy work
- Identify external data sources to supplement VAN data, e.g., voting history, polling locations, early voting sites
- Engage in and provide feedback on the annual state planning process
- Develop and provide strategic guidance on grant proposals
- Identify and champion opportunities to test and experiment systems and processes, assisting partners with same
- Support internal WV strategies and efforts, especially those requiring data reporting and analysis
- Lead and mentor the Data & Technology Specialist
Data, Reporting, & Technology
- As a member of the national data team, build and maintain shared state and national data infrastructure to support partner programming, including participation in data and Deputy Director of Data & Technology calls
- Produce and analyze reports, including for funders, partners, and strategic planning
- Administer, use, train, and support best practices for the following: VAN tools–My Voters, My Campaign; spreadsheets–Excel, Google Sheets; presentations–PowerPoint, Google Slides; Catalist–Q, M; digital/relational organizing–Empower, Reach; CRMs; SMS tools–Hustle, Relay, Revere; data visualization–Tableau, Periscope, and other data sources (census, county files)
- Oversee VAN administration for partners and their consultants, including managing user and security settings, providing technical assistance; and monitoring use to ensure state and national policy compliance
- Conduct timely and relevant data analysis, field and satisfy unique partner requests for election, census, or other data
- Set and oversee VAN training calendar as well as tech tools and reporting
- Ensure Data staff is equipped by providing regular training and coaching
- Work in concert with Field Department to ensure internal alignment of strategies
- Determine anticipated data needs, train, and coach associate/staff to meet these needs
- Support data associate and data staff to teach partners’ data managers
