The Data Specialist reports to the Director of Data and Information Systems to support the objectives of the Legislative-Political Department. In this role, you will have a rare opportunity to develop and implement data strategy at one of America’s most progressive labor unions.

 Responsibilities

In this role, you will work primarily with the LAN (Labor Action Network) and liaise with members from affiliates nationwide who work with the system.

  • Collaborate with staff and affiliates in developing strategies, data processes, and reporting to accurately measure progress toward maintaining and using membership data
  • Train and develop capacity of CWA Data Coordinators nationwide to manage data entry and political program needs
  • Build relationships with affiliates and serve as a resource for their self-directed state and local political programs by providing a variety of training, resources, guidance and other support as needed
  • Advise on targeting and create lists for CWA districts, locals, Legislative/Political Department, and others as needed
  • Administer, support, and train LAN users 
  • Create reports on volunteer activity, political contributions, and others as needed
  • Conduct analysis on volunteer participation
  • Integrate and analyze political and volunteer data from a variety of sources to support CWA’s program goals
  • Work with leadership and staff to establish standards for data collection, acquisition, preservation, analytics, and hygiene
  • Work collaboratively across CWA in addition to vendors and other partner organizations including the AFL-CIO on LAN administration and data needs
  • Perform data analysis of key problem areas to assist in root cause assessment
  • Assist with ongoing data architecture processes and governance
  • Research and collect data to assist with product development and evaluation
  • Assist the data team in preparation of data reports, training materials, documentation, presentations, and other educational materials
