Position Summary

Position: Data Specialist for New Organizing

Location: Pennsylvania

Role: The Data Specialist is a critical member of our Data & Analytics Team and Organizing team who maintains and improves our organizing database, works with the Organizing Director and Organizing and office staff and the Data & Analytics Director on key union functions such as processing lists to provide data support for campaigns update our systems, and continuing to innovate new ways to increase efficiencies and utilize new technology to make our lists cleaner, and our data better. This role would be a good fit for people who have managed data in union, electoral, or non-profit contexts, or for people with organizing experience who are looking to turn their spreadsheet know-how into professional data skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Administer, monitor, update, and continually improve the organizing database;
Process and track all lists;
Use VAN and spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets) to organize worker data and maintain front-end version of database for organizers;
Build automated reports, emails, and systems to populate data and give staff needed information;
Maintain and innovate systems and protocols including different automations to make our database more efficient; and
Other duties as needed to support the mission of the union.
Qualifications include:

Experience with VAN strongly preferred;
3+ years experience within Excel/Google Sheets required;
Interest in developing new technical skills;
SQL/Python experience a plus;
Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion; and
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively around the results of your work.
Other Expectations:

Union staff are expected to work long and irregular hours and on weekends when needed.
Some travel for union events is required.
Valid driver’s license and vehicle for necessary travel are required.
Covid-19 vaccination is required per applicable law.
Compensation:

$55,000-$75,000 depending on experience, benefit package includes health insurance, defined-benefit pension, optional 401(k), etc.
