Position Summary
Summary
Beto for Texas is seeking a full-time data systems engineer to develop and maintain the systems necessary for very large scale volunteer recruitment and voter contact operations. We aim to contact more voters than any campaign in Texas history, and that will require finely tuned, highly automated, easy to use data management systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot processes and tools to support the organizing team in their volunteer recruitment, voter contact, and event support operations.
- Develop automated, reliable data transfer systems, both within our campaign tools and potentially with external partners.
- Acquire and integrate new data and tools that might help us automate workflows, acquire new volunteer leads, and provide higher-quality data.
- Regularly and systematically assess data quality and operational priorities – always provide the best available data for the job.
- Assist with analysis, reporting, and other tasks assigned by the Data Director as needed.
Qualifications
- Must have demonstrated capability to clean and load data, transform large datasets, develop and validate novel calculations and metrics, and extract desired data accurately using SQL.
- At least 1 campaign cycle of experience as a VoteBuilder / VAN administrator strongly preferred.
- At least 1 year or campaign cycle of data engineering or analytics experience preferred.
- Experience with BigQuery is a plus.
- Experience with any campaign tools used for voter contact (phone calls, texting, social media organizing, etc.) is a plus.
- Must have the ability to work well with a team, and take direction and feedback from management.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be comfortable working and interacting with staff and volunteers in an online environment.
- Must be willing to relocate to Houston, TX when headquarters office opens.
Must have a computer and internet access.
Salary & Benefits
- This is an exempt role
- $78,000/year

- $50/month cell phone stipend
