Position Summary

The DCCC is hiring a Deputy Analytics Director, Polling and Targeting for the DCCC’s Independent Expenditure. The Deputy Analytics Director will support the public opinion research program for the DCCC’s Independent Expenditure, including but not limited to generating target lists and samples from the voter file, analyzing polling data, microtargeting model validation and usage, and other analytics work as needed. In this fast-paced office, the ability to multi-task while remaining detail-oriented is a must. At least one cycle of relevant data, targeting, and/or statistics experience is required – this is not an entry level position.

The annual salary for this role is set at $80,000, with an intended start of April 2022. This position is based in Washington, DC, but remote applicants will be considered.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Help maintain internal analytics calendars and regular reports;
  • Lead projects to track and analyze trends and key metrics to develop insights and inform strategy;
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all polling and public opinion research conducted by the Independent Expenditure;
  • Working directly with voter file data, model scores and internal polling to define targets for paid media, including the composition of the targets, the method of communication and advising on the message;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Experience:

  • At least 1-2 cycles of campaign experience;
  • Prior polling and survey research experience;
  • Fluency in either Python or R (particularly the tidyverse), preference for experience with data cleaning and analysis;
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: SQL and relational databases (particularly Google BigQuery), individual-level modeling, and/or digital targeting;
  • Familiarity with web-based voter files tools, such as VAN, Catalist and PDI and Census data and familiarity with the DNC Ecosystem, such as Phoenix and Portal is preferred but not required;
  • Draws from team members’ strengths, empowering them to maximize their talents; contributes where needed to achieve and exceed goals; mentors and guides colleagues
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships with staff at all levels
