Director, Data Analytics

We are currently seeking a driven, curious leader experienced in quantitative data analysis to step into a new role in our collaborative and values-driven culture – the Director, Data Analytics. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, successful problem-solving, and excitement about the use of data to drive decision making; and shares our commitment to an environment where all employees can contribute, learn and grow.

 

Responsibilities include:

-Manage an internal department of 6-8 data associates and analytics associates

-Plan and supervise workload, distribute tasks, and assign projects

-Assist in hiring and training new data and analytics staff

-Teach, mentor, and develop staff to grow to their potential

-Partner with colleagues around the company on research experiments and innovation

-Explore and understand trends in market research, public opinion research, and data to develop new data products

-Engage with client facing teams to understand internal and client needs for continual innovation and improvement of data processes and products

 

This full-time position provides a flexible schedule that includes some evening and weekend hours. The position is open to all applicants in the U.S.  EMC Research has offices in Columbus, OH; Irving, TX; Oakland, CA; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; and Washington, D.C.  Temporarily during the pandemic, all operations are remote; and as a company we are still exploring what the future of our presence in specific office locations might look like.

 

Successful applicants will be effective team leaders excited about managing in a people-first culture; experienced with quantitative analysis in social behavior, public opinion or public policy; and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Minimum Qualifications:

-1-2 years experience in managing projects, leading teams, training or mentorship

-2-3 years of experience in survey research, quantitative research or analytics, voter / campaign data management, or consumer data analysis

-Bachelor’s degree

-Deadline driven and able to produce high-quality work within short timelines

-Experience using statistical software for data management and data analysis, including R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, or Python-Foundation in research design and analysis, survey data, and data visualization

-Interest in public policy, politics, campaigns or non-profit advocacy

-Excellent written and verbal communication

-Engagement and curiosity with industry trends in opinion research or data analytics
