Position Summary

Data for Progress is looking for a Fielding Manager to help expand our mission to empower movements using data. This role will work with our polling and engineering teams to field polls and champion new, innovative ways of engaging survey respondents. They will be responsible for fielding, managing, and automating our extensive polling operations.

AS FIELDING MANAGER, YOU WILL:

  • Manage the process and team behind our proprietary SMS outreach.

  • Monitor web panel survey quality and vet new sources of data.

  • Develop and execute on new strategies for engaging voters, fielding surveys efficiently, and automating processes.

  • Work with our polling team and clients to schedule and execute on critical polling.

FOR EXAMPLE, YOU MIGHT:

  • Find new survey respondent providers to recruit target or hard-to-find audiences.

  • Test new tooling to recruit SMS survey respondents and report on results to the team.

  • Develop guidance for polling analysts on how to best field surveys in small geographies.

  • Whenever you feel like it, write survey questions about issues you care about, run them on one of our national surveys, and present their findings in internal meetings or on the DFP blog!

WE’RE LOOKING TO BUILD A TEAM WITH THESE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES (but you don’t need to have all of them):

  • One or more years working with an SMS or direct marketing program for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization, or non-profit organization.

  • Experience working with, or a willingness to learn about, political and policy polling.

  • Working knowledge of website CMS, CRM, or texting platforms (Mobile Commons, NGPVAN, Civis Platform, Hustle, ThruText, Spoke, Switchboard, … etc).

  • Ability to write SQL and create data visualizations.
