Position Summary
Global Strategy Group is a Democratic polling firm that works directly with national political leaders, Fortune 100 companies, and influential associations on important issues facing the country. GSG is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join our Innovation team, where we develop cutting-edge tools for our internal Research practice and external clients to explore their data and build internal solutions to the technical challenges our teams face.
Responsibilities:
- Work with data team to identify opportunities for task automation and helpful tools
- Create scripts and workflows to automate repeated data processing tasks
- Design and develop tools for internal team use to simplify complex task flows
- Build survey and voter file data pipelines
- Testing and quality control of technical solutions
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, R)
- Strong working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases
- Problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience automating data processing tasks such as cleaning and transformation
- Experience building data pipelines and ETL workflows
- Experience developing application front-ends with HTML/CSS/JavaScript or R Shiny
- Familiarity with data manipulation, analysis, and visualization libraries in Python, R, or JavaScript
- Familiarity with UI/UX design principles
- Familiarity with any of the following structured data formats: JSON, XML, YAML
