Research Alignment Director

Independent Strategic Research Collaborative | Remote | Permanent

Position Summary

About ISRC

Through strategic research and messaging, and informed by deep partnerships,  the Independent Strategic Research Collaborative (ISRC) facilitates research and communications alignment to help the progressive movement realize the promise of a truly equitable multi-racial democracy. Following our success in facilitating a coordinated post-election crisis response, ISRC has become a trusted research, strategy, messaging, and collaborative convening hub for national, state and local organizations across the progressive movement. ISRC generates and disseminates unbranded research, message guidance, and strategic approaches to address pressing crises of the day and to put forward a long-term compelling progressive narrative. At this critical crossroads, our research, large scale briefings, messaging memos, and strategic intel tie together disparate voting and electoral issues under a single narrative umbrella that is able to both grow and inspire greater engagement from our base. We are deliberately low-profile in order to ensure collaboration and buy-in with partners.

About the Position

This Research Alignment Director will work closely with the Executive Director of ISRC to help facilitate research alignment and collaboration with partners across the progressive ecosystem. The core purpose of this position is to build relationships with researchers across the movement and help facilitate alignment on public opinion research so that the movement at-large is better informed and equipped with the data and research we need to win. Specifically, this role will focus on understanding and synthesizing a wide array of public opinion and messaging research to highlight key strategic takeaways. This role may also assist in the crafting of ISRC’s own original messaging research.

This role is for someone who wants to apply their programmatic research skills in order to further our collective understanding of the threats, opportunities, and strategies necessary to win.

Key Elements of Work

  1. Research Writing / Synthesis: Synthesize ISRC research, partner research, and publicly-available research for weekly research summaries, identifying strategic opportunities and threats for movement partners to know.
  2. Research Newsletter: Maintain a regular research newsletter of key highlights and digestible information to further our collective understanding of the political landscape.
  3. Relationship Building: Build ongoing trusting relationships with researchers to maintain knowledge of research across the field. Pre-existing relationships or knowledge of the research landscape is helpful.
  4. Facilitate Collaboration: Help to build a collaborative research community through research working groups, conversation/ data sharing in the ISRC slack.
  5. Identify New Research Opportunities: Suggest and identify public opinion and messaging research gaps for ISRC original research to investigate.
  6. Assist In Development of Original Research: Assist in the ongoing coordination and execution of ISRC’s own regular public opinion and messaging research
