The ideal candidate will have polling experience, honed quantitative and qualitative research skills, and a keen ability to translate data analysis into strategic guidance to help our clients achieve their goals.   This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about turning data into actionable insights for progressive causes that matter.  If you are itching to expand your repertoire and advance professionally alongside some of the best and most experienced data-driven strategists (who are also great people), we are interested in you!

We offer competitive pay and benefits, flexible hybrid/remote work schedule, and are always eager to diversify the skills, talents and perspectives of our team!

ABOUT US:

Hart Research is one of the nation’s leading public opinion research firms, specializing in polling for Democratic candidates and research for progressive advocacy groups, non-profits, labor unions, media organizations, and corporate clients.  Our firm is a welcoming and dynamic place to work, offering the opportunity to grow professionally alongside a collegial, caring and passionate team.  Known and respected for our quality, creativity and depth of experience, we provide our clients with decisive strategic guidance using a variety of specialized qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.  Read more about us on our website @ www.hartresearch.com

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:  We encourage all talented candidates from across all backgrounds, identities and experiences to apply. Hart Research is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplace.  As a minority-owned firm and in the business of measuring public opinion, we are keenly aware of how critical it is that every voice is heard and every opinion counted.  Just like in our research, we strive to include diverse perspectives on our staff and maintain a workplace of shared respect and admiration for our different life experiences because we know that enriches our office culture and enhances the quality of our work.

ABOUT YOU:

You are looking for work that matters in a firm that cares about progressive causes, social and economic justice and equity issues and you bring most of the following skills.  Please note: we encourage you to apply for the position even if you do not currently have all of these skills.

  • Bachelors Degree and 3+ years of experience in political polling, public opinion research, marketing/messaging research or strategic consulting
  • Proven experience applying prevailing survey research techniques and proven knowledge of the best practices in survey research — and the desire to stay on top of the new techniques and innovative technologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing survey research questionnaires
  • Expertise synthesizing data, identifying actionable key findings from survey research, visualizing data, and summarizing findings in compelling ways in written reports and graphic presentations
  • Excellent project management skills, including meeting deadlines, problem solving and managing expectations of clients, vendors and in-house staff
  • Superb writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely
  • Strong analytical skills that provide astute, actionable insights
  • Excellent oral presentation skills
  • Able to work well independently as well as collaboratively and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Creative and strong proposal writing skills, including developing pitch decks
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and significant experience using statistical programs (e.g., R or SPSS) to conduct quantitative analysis, including regression analyses
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities that would put your application ahead of other candidates:

  • Experience moderating focus groups
  • Experience conducting research among underrepresented populations
  • Experience applying and experimenting with statistical weighting and sampling techniques
  • Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other data visualization software

ABOUT THE JOB:

This position will manage both qualitative and quantitative research projects from beginning to end in close collaboration with partners and other staff.  Specifically, you will:

  • Write and design survey questionnaires, focus group guides, one-on-one interview guides, and online discussion guides
  • Manage and foster strong relationships with clients to successfully manage ongoing needs and expectations for projects from start to finish
  • Analyze and synthesize data, and create deliverables that summarize findings and visualize data in a way that is clear, concise, and actionable (oral presentations, written memos, PowerPoint presentations)
  • Manage relationships with vendors to ensure projects are on track and within budget
  • Actively oversee project fielding (i.e., review and proof partial data, discuss weighting targets with data team, actively troubleshoot any fielding issues, etc.).
  • Present findings for projects to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the Request For Proposal process and support new business development by helping to write proposals and prepare pitch presentations

Essential Physical Requirements of the Job:

This job will eventually be hybrid including 2+ days/week onsite in our Washington, DC office.  Please note, our charming Dupont Circle brownstone office building requires employees to climb stairs.

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to climb and descend multiple flights of stairs, visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 5-15 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and ability to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear both in person and over devices.  The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients.  The position works in an office environment with artificial light and air.
