Position Summary

Hart Research, one of the nation’s leading public opinion research firms, is seeking a curious, motivated Research Assistant to join our dynamic team and help us conduct research which strives to advance economic and social justice, fairness, and equal opportunity for all.

ABOUT THE JOB:   The Research Assistant will provide valuable support to all members of the Research Operations team to help produce and ensure the quality and accuracy of final deliverables.   In this position, the Research Assistant will learn the key elements of survey research/polling and lots of have opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather preliminary data and conduct background research for varied array of research projects
  • Assist in the preparation of focus groups, including reviewing research participants profiles, coordinating materials and logistics with focus group facilities
  • Monitor and take notes on focus group and Qualboard discussions in real time
  • Review, organize, tally responses from focus groups and other qualitative research studies, and produce summary of findings in Excel charts
  • Program surveys (training provided) and test survey programming
  • Proof and input data in memos, charts, graphs and PowerPoint decks
  • Work on specialized research projects as requested

  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and communication skills

  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Able to work some weekends/evenings

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to climb and descend multiple flights of stairs, visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 5-15 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and ability to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to be in one position for long periods of screen use, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear both in person and over devices.  The employee interacts in close spaces and frequently with other workers, vendors, and clients.  The position works in an office environment with artificial light and air.
