Training Coordinator

Position Summary

Logistics

We are currently hiring for a Training Coordinator. This is a full-time, salaried, remote position expected to begin on or before September 13, 2021. The position will run for at least 6 months, and possibly longer depending on the length of the redistricting cycle. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 to $70,000.  We also provide competitive benefits.

 

As a Training Coordinator, you will become an expert in our data and  redistricting mapping tools, and work with the data that we have available on our website. You will use this knowledge to create live and pre-recorded webinar trainings, to make our data and resources more accessible for local and state level community organization partners. You will be a vital component in the process of making data needed for redistricting widely available to community groups, civil rights organizations, journalists, redistricting commissions, and researchers.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Gaining an understanding of basic analyses using our quantitative and geographic data
  • Gaining a mastery of redistricting data and mapping tools to be able to train others
  • Creating video trainings, both live and pre-recorded, for using data and mapping tools
  • Communicating with state and local community organizations as well as groups that are creating redistricting mapping tools
  • Speaking to organizations or at conferences about RDH and redistricting data
  • Coordinating invitations, promotion and logistics for events with guest trainers
  • Drafting email copy to promote trainings or other RDH events
  • Following cybersecurity best practices with accounts and data management

Position requirements

  • Experience conducting webinar trainings and creating training materials, or other teaching experience
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently, and prioritize work effectively
  • Ability to effectively conduct outreach with organizations who may be interested in trainings
  • Ability to work flexible hours depending on external trainings and conferences
  • Comfortable working remotely with a small team
  • Experience with Zoom or other video conferencing software
  • Design, marketing or copywriting experience a plus
  • Experience working with data (including shapefiles) strongly preferred
