Position Summary

Movement Labs (formerly Resistance Labs) is a not-for-profit movement incubator and the leading peer-to-peer text political consultancy supporting progressives and grassroots activists nationwide. Our clients span both establishment and movement efforts, from senior Democratic Congressional leadership to Black Lives Matter. We sent over 150 million texts and were an important tool used in many of the critical wins of the 2020 elections.

At Movement Labs, our mission is to build a country that works for everyone. We combine data, technology and experimental methods with an army of passionate volunteers to build power. We use peer-to-peer texting to help grassroots organizing, recruit candidates to run for office, and help those candidates win. We look for opportunities to work in red and rural areas, and with communities that have too often been ignored.

We’re seeking a talented Data Analyst to work with our program leads to analyze the results of our experiments and measure the effectiveness of multiple types of campaigns. You are a data expert proficient in SQL as well as one in R or Python. You have 1-2 years of experience in Data Cleaning, Data Analysis, and regression-based analysis. This opportunity is remote and full time.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage ETL processes from data sources to Redshift uploads
  • Analyze and report on results from randomized controlled trials
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis on irregular reports
  • Create data visualizations to assist in reporting
  • Conduct SQL queries on Redshift and Civis platform for extract and load
  • Run machine learning models to help create predictive and descriptive models

Requirements

  • Passion for uplifting the work of progressive activists, organizations, and issues
  • Strong SQL skills preferred, but journeyperson experience is sufficient
  • Experience with Big Data platforms such as Redshift or Bigquery
  • Familiarity with git
  • Flask experience a plus
  • Passionate about Movement Labs’ mission which aims to build progress by building local power
  • Well organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask
  • Able to drive projects and work independently and regularly communicate status updates
  • Remote experience preferred
  • BA or equivalent preferred, but not required

Benefits
