In March of 2021, Grads Give was founded with the intent of changing the trajectory of our public high school students. We are looking for individuals who possess the entrepreneurial spirit, and want to be an important part of this early stage rocket ship that will change the future of public school education.

Position Summary:

The Data Director is critical to the success of Grads Give’s alumni network development and fundraising platform.  Working with the Marketing and Operations team, the Data Director will act as a bridge between the technical and business teams.  They will advise and assist in the implementation of our overall data infrastructure and  work with the program teams to identify data sources and help ensure that the data is cleansed and validated appropriately.  They will be responsible for high-level data analysis and visualization. They will help define data-driven strategy, determine the requirements to support ir and come up with new ideas for compelling visualizations and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the CMO to come up with a short- and long-term data strategy and implementation plan.
  • Proactively work with program teams to determine available data sources and priorities for data ingestion.
  • Come up with organizational wide ontologies and tagging strategies.
  • As we are a start-up, the job is very hands-on:  ingest data, map data, keep contact lists up-to-date in email platform and Facebook Ad Manager Custom Audiences (e.g. move people from prospect to donor segments), work with third party vendor to append email addresses, create audiences, and evaluate campaign results to refine audiences.
  • Work to ensure that the data infrastructure being built is solving relevant business problems.
  • Collaborate in the design and architecture of the Grads Give data infrastructure.
  • Advise on buy vs. build approaches.
  • Evaluate data vendors, sources.  Think creatively about data sources/swaps/partnerships and make recommendations.
  • Provide technical perspective at the strategic and tactical level around alumni campaigns, including assistance with metrics and goals.
  • Support the strategy team with data and insights to guide strategic media recommendations and supporting rationale.
  • Lead data presentation creation, including school and school district profile development.
  • Standardize and effectively communicate data from multiple sources to produce insightful reports.
  • Further the company’s ability to measure cross-channel attribution and learnings to enhance campaign analysis and derive actionable insights.
  • Develop strong collaborative work relationships with program staff to identify opportunities for data tools and marketing products.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor and translator.

 

Qualifications:

You are a self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and believe that Grads Give has the potential to positively impact high schools and students.  Applicants must have the drive to get things done with minimal supervision, combined with the humility to recognize that the most technically correct solution may not be the most appropriate solution to address a particular challenge.  A sense of humor, delight in data, and willingness to adapt to the change inherent to a rapidly scaling start-up are essential.

A can-do, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude – we are a start-up, so there are no deputies here.

Ability to work nights and weekends during Giving Tuesday and End of Year Giving pushes.

This position is virtual and thus, home-based.  We meet in-person quarterly.  Thus, Covid vaccination is required.  Should you be unable to get the vaccine for medical reasons, let’s discuss.
