VAN Associate

Position Summary

Overview:

The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking a VAN Associate, based in Detroit, MI, to support the Biden Campaign and Democrats up and down the ballot by supporting the in-state Organizing program. We are looking for individuals with a variety of backgrounds and experience, and are dedicated to building a team that looks like America. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage VAN support process and respond to help tickets from organizers
• Develop and present VAN training materials to the Organizing Team in statewide, small group, and one-on-one settings
• Enforce VAN data standards and support with anomaly detection reporting
• Assist with training and support on voter contact and volunteer recruitment tools (Scale To Win, Mobilize, etc.)
• Respond to data support requests and flags
• Work with a cohesive team to execute projects with accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness
• Other tasks as needed in support of the Coordinated campaign

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience as an organizer and/or using VAN professionally
• Experience creating and running trainings for volunteers, organizers, or other staff
• 2+ cycles of experience on political campaigns or on a political data team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and implement creative solutions to unique problems.
• A desire to ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and grow as a professional
• A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and implement creative solutions to unique problems
• Commitment to equity and inclusion in working with staff and other stakeholders
• Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting

Additional Useful Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong Google Sheets experience
• Experience using SQL
• Experience as a VAN administrator

This position will report to the Deputy Data Director for Analytics.

This position offers a starting salary of $5000 per month and includes a full benefits package with health, vision and dental insurance.
