Position Summary

Summary

Beto for Texas is seeking a full-time data analyst to perform deep dive analysis on topics of interest and develop and maintain reporting tools to provide regular reports and business intelligence. These reports and analytical products will help campaign leadership understand and optimize our volunteer recruitment, voter contact operations, and overall campaign strategy. We aim to contact more voters than any campaign in Texas history, and that will require a high degree of situational awareness, tactical agility, and well-designed, highly automated, intuitive reporting systems.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, visualize, and explain patterns in our data that might help us get more votes for Beto. 
  • Develop clear, intuitive, and accurate data visualizations for use in regular reports. 
  • Develop automated tools for reporting of patterns of interest, progress to goals, and other key metrics. 
  • Perform in-depth analysis of datasets of interest and provide written reports and presentations on findings. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Data and Organizing Departments to optimize volunteer recruitment and voter contact operations.
  • Assist with data production, troubleshooting, and other tasks assigned by the Data Director as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Must have demonstrated capability to independently compile, sort, filter, clean, visualize, and explain complex datasets using tools such as Google Sheets, Excel, Google Data Studio, Tableau, MatLab, R, and/or python. 
  • Must have demonstrated capability to present key metrics and findings clearly to non-technical audiences. 
  • At least 1 year or campaign cycle of data analysis experience preferred. 
  • Experience writing SQL queries is a plus. 
  • Experience with VoteBuilder / VAN is a plus. 
  • Must have the ability to work well with a team, and take direction and feedback from management. 
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be comfortable working and interacting with staff and volunteers in an online environment.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Houston, TX when headquarters office opens. 

 

Must have a computer and internet access.

Salary & Benefits

  • $78,000/year
  • Healthcare eligibility on date of hire
  • $50/month cell phone stipend
