Position Summary
The One Campaign for Michigan is seeking an experienced and detail oriented Deputy Data Director. One Campaign for Michigan is the Michigan Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign for the 2022 general election. The Deputy Data Director will serve as a key support role for both the Data Director and other campaign departments. The Deputy Data Director must have the technical and political skills to manage real time voter data and is flexible enough to respond to campaign needs quickly and efficiently. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the grassroots turnout operation needed to win elections up and down the ballot for Democrats in November 2022.
This position will report to the Data Director and is based in Detroit, Michigan.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
● Designing and creating reports and visualizations for other teams on the Coordinated
Campaign, particularly the organizing team;
● Building target universes and managing lists for voter contact and volunteer recruitment;
● Maintaining and responding to a ticket system for data support requests and flags; ●
Developing and presenting VAN trainings (virtual and in-person) to the organizing team in statewide, small group, or one-on-one settings;
● Supporting other members of the data team to complete projects as necessary;
● Other responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications (Not Required):
● Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals;
● Must be highly organized and detail-oriented;
● At least two cycles of campaign experience with at least one cycle of experience on a
campaign data team;
● Experience using VAN/Votebuilder as an administrator;
● Proficiency in SQL, preferably in Phoenix or BigQuery;
● Familiarity with Google Data Studio, Tableau, or any other data visualization software;
● Familiarity with Python, R, or any other language for analyzing large datasets.
