Deputy Data Director

Position Summary

The Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) is seeking an enthusiastic and detail oriented Deputy Data Director. The Deputy Data Director will serve as a key support role for both the Data Director and other campaign departments. The Deputy Data Director must have a combination of technical and political skills to manage real time voter data and is flexible enough to respond to campaign needs quickly and efficiently.

The Deputy Data Director will report directly to the Data Director.

Responsibilities of the Deputy Data Director will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage voter file access for campaign staff including but not limited to:
    • Training of field staff
    • Monitoring data integrity and accountability, and
    • Handling support requests;
  • Assist in reporting on programmatic progress to goal in a wide variety of different metrics;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, such as organizing and voter protection to accomplish campaign goals;
  • Develop and present VAN/Votebuilder training materials to the organizing team in statewide, small group, and one-on-one meetings;
  • Respond to and maintain a ticketing system for data support requests and flags; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals;
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Suite and experience using VAN/Votebuilder as an administrator;
  • At least one previous cycle of campaign experience, preferably in data or field position;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet all goals and deadlines;
  • Exceptional people skills and patience, must be willing to coach and train staff on campaign tools, SQL, python, or any other language efficient for analyzing large datasets;
  • Assisting in the tracking and disseminating analysis of voter contact results, early vote and absentee turnout, voter registration, and other data relevant to campaigns and caucuses;
  • A strong commitment to Democratic values and equity.

This is a full-time position to begin as soon as June 15, 2021. Salary is set at $5,500/month. Position will include medical, vision and dental insurance benefits at no cost to the employee. 401(k) benefits are available upon completion of service hour requirements. Generous Vacation and Sick Leave are available upon approval of your supervisor. This is a full-time position with regular working hours of 40-50 hours per week, with additional hours as needed leading up to Election Day. This position is not a bargaining unit position as defined by the agreement with IBEW Local 666. This position is anticipated to terminate on November 30, 2021.
