Data Associate

Position Summary

Summary: The Montana Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign is hiring a Data Associate to join our team in the most important Senate battleground state in 2024. The Data Associate will report to the Deputy Data Director and work in close partnership with the Data and Analytics Director and other Coordinated Campaign departments. This position is full-time in-person, based in Billings, Montana, and may require some travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position.

Role and Responsibilities:
● Write SQL queries to contribute to report creation supporting key programmatic priorities across several Coordinated Campaign departments; including Organizing, Voter Access, and Native Vote teams
● Help administer Votebuilder/VAN and respond to data flags and requests
● Support data cleaning and processing to create efficient data pipelines, reports, and tools
● Monitor and maintain data standards to ensure proper data capture and hygiene
● Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills and Experience:
● Previous campaign experience from either organizing, internships, or consistent volunteering
● Proficiency with Google Sheets or Excel
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
● Ability to balance competing priorities, meet urgent deadlines, and multi-task on long term projects
● Desire to ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and learn new technical skills and platforms
● Ability to communicate effectively within teams and across departments
● Willingness to work in a fast-paced campaign environment, that may require long, irregular hours, including some nights and weekends
● A solutions-oriented approach to challenges and ability to think creatively to solve unique problems
● Commitment to electing Montana Democrats up and down the ballot

Preferred Skills and Experience:
● Experience with Votebuilder/VAN
● A technical skill set that includes familiarity or proficiency in any programming language or software such as SQL, Python, QGIS or R.
