Position Summary

Voter Formation Project (VFP) is a 501(c)3 organization committed to increasing participation in elections using innovative, long-term, and data-driven digital communications strategies to engage, register, and mobilize new and infrequent voters of color.
VFP is seeking a Media Analyst to join our team. We will be accepting applications through February 19th as we’re looking to fill the position by April 2024.
The Media Analyst is a key member of the team that will report directly to the Director of Data & Technology, and liaise between the Program and Data & Technology teams. This is a limited-term position with an end date of December 31, 2024. Limited-term roles at VFP are still considered full-time employees and are eligible for all benefits, which are detailed in the section below on Compensation, benefits, and culture.

As the Media Analyst you will:

    • Own the creation of dashboards that monitor daily progress toward KPIs across multiple audiences and ad platforms.
    • Provide quality checks for our advertising naming and tracking infrastructure to establish conventions and avoid downstream reporting complications.
    • Pull audience counts, build lists, & match leads back to the voter file.
    • Fulfill ad hoc reporting requests including compiling cost and performance benchmarks to inform media strategy and writing data reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist the program team in vetting potential and existing vendor solutions.
    • Set up and maintain the website pixels and conversion events on VFP’s tech.
    • Manage the ticketing request system and fulfill incoming requests.

The qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience with advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Google Analytics, Facebook Ads Manager) to analyze programs, preferably ones that include a component of direct response marketing.
    • Advanced knowledge of data analytics and social media campaigns.
    • Excellent communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
    • Passion for identifying data insights and coming up with creative solutions.
    • Strong attention to detail— the dashboards created will help inform program strategy.

Technical requirements:

    • Proficient in SQL.
    • Expert in dashboard building (e.g. Looker Studio, Tableau, etc.).
    • Experience with Google Tag Manager.
    • Experience with database management systems (e.g. Redshift, BigQuery, etc.).
    • Experience with query performance optimizations.

The nice-to-haves:

    • Experience with Python.
    • Experience with APIs.
    • Experience with voter file data and/or commercial data.

Compensation, benefits, and culture:

Starting salary for the Media Analyst is $80,000 per year.

The Voter Formation Project offers a generous benefits package, which includes:
  • Unlimited paid vacation (all benefits-eligible employees are required to take three weeks of vacation per year).
  • Parental leave and various other paid leave types.
  • Fully paid medical and dental insurance.
  • Vision premiums are 75% covered.
  • Co-working or home office reimbursement.
  • Retirement account with employer matching.
While the Voter Formation Project is an organization that works in political cycles, we whole-heartedly reject campaign culture and are focused on developing new, healthy norms for campaign work—even in-cycle.
Voter Formation Project operates on the four-day work week. In general, we work from Monday to Thursday and are closed on Fridays (holiday schedules may shift our work week). Our four days of work are standard eight-hour work days; we do not work a schedule of four ten-hour days.
